Children are expected to respect the elderly and obey the rules. Normally, rules in Vietnamese families are set by the father. Additionally, in my opinion, Vietnamese families are usually large and consist of many generations, which is similar to those in India. Although there was not much freedom in the past, family values in Vietnam in recent years have transformed in which parents respect their children's voice more, and kids are allowed to pursue their own interests like Swedish ones.
