It basically is the artist ability to express him or her self through their music. The music that is being produced has deeper meanings and interpretations. This causes the audience to want to hear more and re listen to older songs to try to see if they missed anything important in the song. This relationship is built over time and is essentially endless as long as the artist continues to produce music. In his book "Every Song Ever", Ben Ratliff explains how "we want to have a relationship with it (the music we listen to)". This allows us to become fully immersed with the music and it leaves us wanting more. I believe that a true artist tries to connect with their audience. Each album he releases has many messages within his lyrics that speak on his life, society, or any other topic or emotion he feels like speaking about. As a fan, I am able to connect with Eminem because I feel as if he has opened up to me because of how open he is about his own self in his music. This relationship is evident throughout all of his music which allows for a inventory of music to be created. Eminem has opened up about his drug addictions, his kids, his relationship with his mother and wife, his road to recovery from drug addiction, etc. The way that Eminem allows his audience into his life builds a strong relationship and it also makes his music endless.
