-Trust and betrayal because when he got in the truck with the trucker he had to trust him but he wasn't really betrayed by the trucker but by his parents when he was a wee lad.
-Hope and Despair because he has hope to get away and escape the terrible society that he lives in and despair because he has been let down by multiple people.
-Tough choices because he makes decisions that are really in the moment and may backfire.
-Survival because he life depends on him escaping.
-Controlling government because once the parents sign the contract the kids are "unwound".
