When researching an educational tool for Monday March 17th's class, I chose Minecraft Education.

It offers a bunch of lesson plans that are aligned with activities that can be done in Minecraft for a variety of topics such as science, math, computer science, language arts, history and culture, art and design, digital citizenship, social and emotional development, equity and inclusion as well as climate and sustainability.

Once, I subbed in a 6th-grade classroom that used this amazing resource for a math project; never have I seen students THIS engaged.

I plan to use Minecraft Education in my classroom and to use their pre-made lessons; they all seem very great, engaging, and educational!

Soundtrap

In this class, I discovered Soundtrap. It is a great app for audio editing, whether it is to create music or a podcast!

There are many editing features available, along with free loop samples provided! It is easy to get the hang of, and I can see its educational potential.

If doing a unit related to musicians or music, I can see myself creating a music-related project where students could write/make their own songs. I could also see making my students create their own interview podcast episode for an English class project! Soundtrap has a lot of potential to create creative projects for students!

Mentimeter

At the beginning of the semester, I had to use a polling website. However, rare were the free ones with enough participants being allowed to join. Then came in Mentimeter!

I had seen a Mentimeter poll being used at a day camp training and decided to give it a try. It works fantastically! You can have 50 participants join your poll monthly for free, which was enough for what I had to do.

With older students, I could see this resource being used when answering questions to initiate class discussions. I love that it is anonymous because students may feel more comfortable sharing what they have in mind and putting their idea out there, especially if the question is more personal or hits closer to home depending on the subject.

Seesaw

Seesaw is an app I heard about when we did our little "gallery walk" of educational websites/tools and had the chance to use it that same week for my Elementary Science course!

What I love about Seesaw is the way of submitting assignments; you have the option to record your voice, upload a picture/video or take it/film it via the app, draw your answer, type it up, etc.. I love how personalized and customizable it is, and would love to implement it in my classroom.

I think Seesaw would be great for exit tickets on what the students have learned that day, or what they wonder about that day's lesson. It is a creative way for them to submit their answers, which may be more motivating and fun than a more "traditional" way of submitting a paper exit ticket.
