Thinking back to the idea of individuality, I think it would be beneficial to have students share their approaches to certain problems. This allows for students to see multiple representations of how a problem can be solved and this also provides students the opportunity to read their peers answers with a critical lense.

I really agree with the quote, "Classroom teachers find themselves with less time for flexability..." (Ellis & Eberly, 2015). In my Math Methods courses we focus a lot on inquiry based learning. We also frequently discuss how time consuming setting up one inquiry based learning activity takes. This is really unfortunate because this is where the bulk of critical literacy resides within k-12 math education.

While I think critical literacy resides within inquiry based learning, there are still other parts of mathematics where critical literacy can reside in a smaller quantity. I think trying to get my students to look at word problems critically can do wonders for both the students and I. For example, if I was fortunate enough to teach an AP Calculus class I could have my students search for key words in a word problem. "Given the position function find the instananeos velocity of the rocket after the rocket has traveled 3 feet." Instantaneous velocity would let the students know that they need to find the first derivative of the position function and then find out what the value is for t=3.
