I think that I would choose a surveyor’s compass. I say this because if we are going into unknown land, we are going to need to know how to get around. We are going to need to know where we are heading, and this compass will help us do that.

As my Captain I would choose Meriwether Lewis to sail my ship. I would choose Lewis to be my captain because he was in the military. He joined the U.S Army and ended up serving for six years. This shows that he is brave and honorable. I would want someone who I could trust, and who I could count on during my mission. I think that Lewis would be just that. He was also chosen to be Jefferson secretary, which shows that he is hardworking. If he is hardworking that would be able to make my mission more likely to be successful.

Lewis was not only honorable and hardworking, but he also had other persuading qualities. He was very in shape which would be helpful for my journey, but he was also disciplined. Being disciplined shows good character this shows how structured his life is. Lewis also was very keen to seeing sharp and precise details. This shows how focused he is, and how he is able to see the little things that many others don’t. Lewis even had good leadership skills, and would be able to keep the other members of the crew in check. Considering all these reasons I am confident with my choice as Meriwether Lewis as my captain.

He kept going even though it was hot and it was hard labor.

George Shannon even shows his persistence through his journey’s.

There could have been many thoughts when discovering the bearberry which it was referred to as kinnikinnick. When discovering this plant the members of the corps were thinking mainly about one thing which is whether or not the plant was edible. When thinking about if it was edible they were right, and they were able to learn that it could be used in many ways. They were able to use this plant as a quick snack to eat if they were in the need to go. Even though Lewis said that the red berries on their own was very bland and tasteless, he mentioned that once he boiled the berry it became sweet. So, it could be used as a quick bland snack, or a worthwhile tasty treat.

They were thinking about how dangerous the creature was. They were able to see that it was eating other creatures, and were concerned about if it would try and eat them. They were also wondering if there were any other creatures like it. They were probably curious about the animals fur. They found it interesting how different the fur of wolves can look. They were also probably interested by the sharp teeth on it. Considering they chew on the bones of their prey, they were most likely wondering how sharp their teeth were. They were wondering about the hunting strategies of the animal as well. They found it interesting how the wolves travel and hunt in packs.

He said that this plant looked like a honeysuckle but it also looked a little different. He said that the plant was formed on a smooth pellice, and it happened to be very white. Lewis said that this plant contained berries that were joined together. He was curious as to how they would taste, and if they could be helpful. Lewis found out that the berries were very unpleasant to humans. Even though humans don’t really like this plant, bird seem to love it. While coming across this creature they were thinking about how they could use their meat as nutrition and then use their skin for clothes. Once they saw the elk they were trying to compare it to the deer. They probably thought that their antlers were interesting and trying to think of ways to use them. They found the velvet antlers were interesting since deer antlers are not velvet. They were interested by the skins of the elk, and were thinking about how they could use them to stay warm. They came to a decision that elk were bigger than deer and they were easier to kill. They even thought that these big creatures meat was better than that of deer. This certain group of Native Americans lived in modern day Montana. They were known to get along with European visitors and had a healthy relationship with the. They however did not not get along with Lewis and Clark.

When the tribe first met Lewis and Clark they were intimidated and had initial fear with them. Lewis and Clark explained their plans to make peace with all western Indian tribes, the Blackfeet tribe thought their plan posed a threat to them. They thought that if Lewis and Clark gave guns to everyone including their enemies, that it would only weaken their tribes power. So, they decided that they wanted to steal their guns. This did not go very well and two members of the Blackfeet tribe lost their lives. After that the Blackfeet tribe had haustitility with Americans.

Iowa happens to be located east to Nebraska. At the Sergeant Floyd Monument there are open fields with a building as the centerpiece. The main monumental building was not there when Lewis and Clark on their expedition. It was actually built in 1901, many years after their expedition ended. Iowa is located in the Midwestern region of the United States. Within Iowa people move around by cars, bikes, walking, and even airports. Iowa actually has 122 airports that are well connected to all parts of the United States.
