         <description><![CDATA[<div>The US Hockey team beat the Soviet team and this was one of America's first non-war wings against Russia and was at the start of the cold war.&nbsp;It was called a Miracle on Ice becuase the Miracle was that the US had one sometheing, and On Ice was becuase they won while being on the ice for hockey. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The invasion of Afghanistan impacted the Olympics becuase it caused the US to boycott. The US did not like that the Soviets were overtking Afghanistan, and then hosting the olympics. They did not want to go to a country that had invaded another, so they boycotted the Olympics held in the USSR. </div>]]></description>

When they did compete at the Olympics they were competed against each other like the war. When they boycotted each others Olympics it showed that they would not back down and were willing to fight. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The 1988 Olympics because both the US and Russia competed in the Olympics as a full country.&nbsp;They both attended the Olympics together after both boycatting that past two olympics. Even though the USSR and US were not the hosts, the countries still went to a different country to compete. </div>]]></description>

Similar to how they both wanted to win, they also both wanted Gold medals and to come in first in the Olympics.<br>Both countries were very competitive when it came to sports and the war as well.&nbsp;Becuase of this compeition they were very persistent in any form of compeiting, just trying to do the best for their country and win. <br>They also showed which country was better at competing in certain sports, which turned into a competition of who was better than the other</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many people still boycott the Olympics because of what the Committee does. The Beijin Olympics in 2022 were very controversial and many poeple wanted the US to boycott them similar to how they boycotted the Olympics in the USSR.<br>Russia is unable to complete in present-day olympics because of a drug scandal. Russia competes as apart of the RCP becuase of doping scandals that still happened in 2022 with a figure skater. <br>Both countries are still top-dominating in sports.&nbsp;In recent olympic games, both countries are easily able to come in within the top 5 and dominate each other.</div>]]></description>
