    1. What did you learn about the member of staff telling the story? I watched Ms. Altena (who is my history teacher), I found it super interesting and moving how she was talking about the struggles of her accent- coming from a nonnative speaker. I learned that it is only apart of her identity during a school setting- however, back in her own country (the Netherlands) she is considered 'normal'.


    2. Why have you reflected on this story instead of the others? I admired her honesty in the video, and her being able to open up on her life story of struggles but as well she talked about that one comment from another teacher that opened her eyes and made her flip her mindset. The comment was "Your accent is so cute" which made Ms. Altena feel touched that someone could find it positive instead of her thinking it was always a negative aspect of her identity.


    3. What aspect of our unseen identities could you do a story on? I think I could talk about my Jewish identity as it is really important to me and a big aspect of my identity that isn't recognised just by looking at me.

  • what parts of me do I show to the world? The biggest part of my identity is my family, I have 8 people in my family. 5 siblings

    • what parts of me do I not show? Something that's not too obvious but I still show, is my religion. By looking at me it's not obvious

    • What are some important cultural/personal beliefs that I want to share? Honesty and empathy are a big part of my personal beliefs that were fostered at a very early age by my 5 siblings and parents growing up.

    • what are some family/cultural/societal views that have had an impact who I am today? My Jewish heritage has influenced me greatly on who I am, and I feel like it is a very big part of my identity

    • IM INFLUENCED BY.. my Jewish upbringing, my heritage and Jewish values and beliefs. Specifically' Tikkun Olam' which is the goal of repairing the world for peace and making sure everyone is treated fairly with dignity and respect
