There will be a review, but it's the best to have a strong foundation to review off of, and don't be afraid to talk with the teacher about time and planning, it will definitely help.

An important thing to keep in mind when prepping are the reps and how to practice correctly. Practicing correctly is repeating what personally gets you the best results. For example, reading the questions first, then the passage. Repetitive practice is proven to help you learn and solidify a strategy, so for sure keep refining your best strategy.

If it helps, think of the Synthesis essay like a DBQ from APUSH, except without the history. Like the DBQ, there are documents given to use as evidence for an argument and you must use 3, but using 4 acts as a safety net in case you might have used one wrong. In your 15 minutes, try to brainstorm off the prompt for a thesis, then get to annotating the documents and deciding which to put in the essay and where. Typically the documents aren't to be cited in the introduction or conclusion and unlike APUSH, you must cite it as (source __) and not (doc ___). To cite, you don't have to directly quote either, you can summarize, then put the citation.

So in the rhetorical analysis, you're analyzing what literary devices the author uses from a document and how it helps their purpose. For me, just reading and annotating the passage helped me develop my paragraphs based off what I would mark in my annotations to use as evidence. You should also directly quote the text for evidence rather than summarize in the synthesis

In the essay, you should take an opinion either siding, refuting, or qualifying the prompt. The essay also allows you to have a little more freedom in regards to evidence. It can be helpful to after reading the prompt, just brainstorm and be open minded about evidence. This is also where topics we learned from class can help jump in, such as citing transcendentalist ideals that we learned in class.
