The Seminar provides budding writers with the chance to attend creative writing workshops, performance workshops, plenary lectures and enrichment sessions. Following the Seminar, participants may apply for a 9 month-long mentorship attachment, where successful applicants receive the guidance of a local writer. SMC aims to stimulate young people's interest in issues pertaining to Singapore. Participants will take on the roles of ministers in different ministries or representatives of statutory boards. They will discuss and craft policies which address current problems in Singapore in each of the cabinets. During the conference, there will be opportunities for the participants to interact with the actual policy-makers of the nation. This will give the participants greater insight into how decisions are made at the highest level.

Hwa Chong International Model United Nations (HMUN) is an inter-school Model United Nations Conference for upper secondary school students aged 15-17 from local schools and international schools in Singapore. Spearheaded by a group of International Baccalaureate (IB) students, this event is hosted and sponsored by Hwa Chong International School. With the aim of exposing more students attending local schools to current affairs and international politics, we hope to make this an annual event for all.

This experience and competition can be done individually or up to groups of three students. There are various categories such as video making, comic strip recreation and screenplay. Other than LEAP points, students/groups stand a chance to win prizes with e-vouchers, a plaque for the school and will be recognised with an e-certificate.
