I do agree that people do not show kindness to each other but to a certain extent.
At first Singaporeans had a very selfish mentality and a "kiasu" mindset which made them be ignorant of compassion and the government even set up a scheme and introduced the mascot kindness bear and introduced kindness day which main aim was to instil kind hearts into singaporeans. This event happened for a few years but it was deemed a failure and they scraped the idea as there was no outcome from the scheme.
but as of recently since, there is a pandemic going on Singaporeans have been showing kindness and care for each other. They have the mentality of getting through this together.
They have each other's back and have the grit to get pass this pandemic and move on with life. There was this one case where a bus captain by the name of Uncle Subramaniam made food for his fellow Malaysian bus captains who fled their country to earn a living for their families back at home. This is a great example of kindness and I hope that after this outbreak ends we can still continue showing kindness to people beside us.

I personally think that celebrating cultural festivals together with our family is very important. (stand)

Especially for teenagers, they tend to distance themselves away from their families as they grow older. (example)
This is because they would spend more time with their friends rather than with their own family. (explain)
Celebrating cultural festivals together with their families would help in the bonding of the family. (explain)
They would get to know <del>more of </del>one another and teenagers could talk about the problems they face in life during such festivals. (elaborate)
For relatives, they would be curious about the younger generation, asking them all sorts of questions. These would bring distant families even more closer to one another. (example)
For example, during Chinese New Year this year. My aunties would ask me questions such as, "How is school?, Which school are you from? or What sports do you play?" As the conversation <del>gets</del> further, I would also ask back questions to get to know more of them.

All these cultural festivals bring families even closer as we get to know more of one another more. Hence, celebrating cultural festivals with families is very important.

I personally think that the people in the society we live in shows enough kindness to one another. (point / stand)
Kindness is important to society as it creates a harmonious and joyous society which brings about benefits <del>to the people</del> such as happiness , a better relationship between the people around them , a longer and healthier life , etc. (explain)
There are many ways of showing kindness , it can even be as simple as asking someone how their day is. (example)
Kindness is especially needed in a pandemic like this <del>that we are currently facing. </del>In fact , there has been many times where Singaporeans showed kindness to one another during this time. Many examples include , a couple in Punggol <del>who </del>were giving away thousands of masks outside the mrt station for free, Singaporeans showing their appreciation to healthcare workers by clapping , cheering , waving their phones with flashlights on and even singing songs at night on multiple occasions and last but definitely not least , some Singaporeans even buying food for delivery drivers. (example)

However , there are some people that doesn't show enough kindness to one another in the society we live in. (counterargument / point)
For example , there was a recent video showing an uncle being scolded for not wearing a mask when it was evidently shown that the uncle was actually exercising. (example)
There are also instances of foreign domestic workers being mistreated where their living conditions and diets are poor and they are said to also not being paid <del>at times</del> on time. (example)
In conclusion , the good outweighs the bad hence I still stick by my stand and that is , people in the society we live in shows enough kindness to one another.

I agree to this view to a certain extent. (stand)
Many countries around the world are now <del>experiencing</del> adopting different measures in an attempt to enforce social distancing to slow the spread of Covid-19. (explain)
They range from ending mass gatherings, closing public spaces like leisure centres, pubs and clubs to closing schools and in some places a total lockdown with people forced to stay indoors. (example)
Even after this whole situation blows over, people might still carry out social distancing in the fear that another virus like this may surface <del>up</del>,(elaborate)<del>
</del>people might do this as they value their personal space and try their best to avoid crowded places. But after the things has die down it will be most likely that people will resume their normal lives.I really feel it is unnecessary for people to continue social distancing when there is no virus.

on the other hand, this experience serves as a good reminder to take care our selves like washing our hands before eating and generally practise good hygiene. Lastly, i also learned not to take things for granted like exercising my right to walk freely in the streets or mingling around with my friends

In conclusion, people should not exaggerate and practise social distancing in the future when there is no reason to do so,unless it is a really serious situation.

I personally think that people in my society shows enough kindness to one another.

Most Singaporeans are too shy to approach the people in need.As a result, the society we live in does not show enough kindness to one another. However, during the recent pandemic, Singaporeans are more willing to help others in need. For example, the #SGPAYFORWARD wants to raise 100,000 sanitation pack for the vulnerable in Singapore just by donating $25. Many Singaporeans have donated and this makes the society a more warm and loving place to live in.

However, there are instances where the society lacks of kindness. When the pandemic started spreading in Singapore, people started hoarding instant noodles and toilet paper. This causes people who need it the most to be short of it and it’s an extremely inconsiderate action.

All in all, there are moments where Singaporeans do show kindness to each other despite of this ongoing pandemic and it helps to make the society a more lively place to live in.

i agree to a certain extent that the people in society do show kindness to one another. (point)
Even though Singaporeans have a reputation of being kiasu, it does not change the fact that we take great care of the elderly, the sick and people living in poverty through schemes and voluntary work. For example, when the elderly board the bus, some would immediately offer their seat, when a wheelchair bound person waits for the bus, he is automatically able to board the bus first and is also supported by the captain to board the bus. Sure we may not come off as the most caring society in the world but we do know when to help one another in times of need.
These acts of kindness are still prevalent till this day. For example huge amounts of people have volunteered to stay overnight till morning to help with the packaging of reusable face masks for the current covid-19 situation.

Thus, I believe that Singaporeans still show enough kindness to one another. For myself, I did volunteer to help pass food to the elderly and needy in my area. I felt very appreciated and happy that I get to see their smiles although what I did was minimal.

One favorite place from my childhood that I remember fondly is my grandparents' house

Firstly , it had a marvelous location. My grandparents' house was in Santa Maria del Mar, one of the eastern beaches of Havana City. The house was very near to the beach, on the top of a hill: for that reason, a fresh breeze was always blowing. It was surrounded by beautiful gardens and a huge back yard with many fruit trees on which lived a lot of birds that would delight with their chirpings . The view from all of the windows, which included the sea and the backyard, was marvelous. My brothers and I could see the sunrise from the backyard too .

My grandparents also planned a lot of activities to keep us amused. My siblings and I used to go to the beach every morning, and sometimes we went in the afternoons too. We played a lot of indoor and outdoor games like dominoes, hide and seek and more .

Lastly , my grandfather was a wonderful cook, and he used to prepare tasteful dishes for us. We tried the local vegetables, seafood, and all kind of meats made by him. Sometimes, my grandparents and we went out to dinner and could taste a wide variety of meals.

The beautiful location , the amusing time that we had there and the delicious taste of my grandfather's meal are the reasons why my grandparent’s house is my favourite place which I remember fondly from childhood .

Looking at this makes me feel uncomfortable as i do not like to hang in big crowds.in the video i can see that the people are so close that they are brushing shoulders against one another. i would feel rather unhappy when im stuck in a crowd like that as i prefer to go at my own pace when im shopping and not when there are people pushing me to go forward. being in crowds like these also puts me at a high risk of catching a flu. especially in a time like this where there is a pandemic going on , all the more it is important for us to practice social distancing . therefore i would not like to be in a crowd like this

I agree to some extent as, in our everyday lives, the small deeds that we do like helping each other carry heavy things or lending a stationery is also a form of care and kindness. This also brings us closer to each other with every interaction made. Once I was on my way home from school when I saw an old lady struggling to stack up her cardboard on a trolley. Just when I was about to approach her, another student rushed up to her first and volunteered to help her instead. The sight in front of me just made me realise that our society is actually filled with care and kindness, and how one person's actions can instantly make someone else's day.

However, there are just some people in this society who just arent as caring and friendly. I was walking to the bus stop when I saw a girl madly rushing for the bus which already reached the bus stop. There was a guy at the bus stop who saw this whole incident but instead of helping the girl flag for the bus, he just pretended like he did not see her and just continued using his phone. This whole incident made me realise how some people can be so selfish and unhelpful towards other people.

In conclusion, our society can actually be a friendly and loving one if the first step is taken by everyone by approaching someone and ask if he or she needs any help.

I feel that once the social distancing measures has eased,
many people will return back to their old lifestyle. For example teenagers hanging in the close vicinity of their friends or family. I also think that once the circuit breaker is over, crowds will begin to form at the popular central districts in Singapore as many were stuck at home during this period and would finally take the opportunity to go out and meet their friends or go shopping. So I feel that by the time the circuit breaker has eased, it is highly unlikely that people will carry on practicing social distancing measures or avoid crowded areas.

However in my opinion, there will still be a small minority of people who will stick to safe distancing and avoid crowded places. There is a saying that goes " better safe than sorry." Thus I feel that the more matured age group probably the elderly and the older adults will stick to the saying as the virus is not expected to be eradicated so quickly and the minority of the people will still stay at home just to be safe. But I think that social distancing measures should still be practised as the virus cannot be seen with our naked eye and we are not sure as to how many people have contracted the virus and have yet to be treated. Thus, i feel that we should continue to be vigilant and not take for granted our freedom.
All in all I think that most people will not practise safe distancing measures ones the circuit breaker is lifted. But I feel that we should be more responsible for our well-being and continue practising social distancing measures to a certain extent and avoid crowded places.

I disagree that in the future, people will avoid crowded places and practise social distancing. Although the Covid-19 situation has warranted such measures, it is very likely that after the situation has fully died down, people will return to their daily lives. Naturally, some people will avoid crowds to avoid any chance of infection of any sorts. However, most people will likely return to their daily lives, and come into contact with multiple people a day and crowds as well. It will also be harder to avoid crowds after the situation has died down. Therefore, I believe that people will not avoid crowded places nor practise social distancing.
Personally, I would practise social distancing and avoid crowded places. This is because I do not enjoy travelling to crowded places, as I prefer staying at home alone, as I enjoy doing my hobbies. Moreover, staying at home will definitely decrease the chance of me contracting a virus from others. Thus, I will likely be avoiding crowds and staying at home comfortably instead of traveling around to crowded areas after the Covid-19 situation has died down.

I agree to a certain extent that the people in my society show kindness to one another. However at times we Singaporeans can be “kiasu”.

During this recent pandemic, Singaporeans have started donating and set up Small charity groups within themselves. They donate toilet paper , noodle packets, rice, and other essential supplies that the poor and elderly in Singapore struggle to afford. Some other groups work by going door to door in the poorer communities by giving masks to protect themselves from the covid-19 virus. These gestures are especially crucial and helpful during times like this when we singaporeans need to get together and fend off the virus.

However during the pandemic, a lot of Singaporeans rushed to supermarkets to hoard many supplies which would last them months or a year! Some bought so many toilet paper that others who need it can’t even purchase them. Others bought a year worth’s of rice! Out of all these hoarders the one thing I couldn’t stand was those bulk buying masks! Once bought they are resold at 10x the normal cost. This puts a huge disadvantage to the financially strained and elderly as for their basic safety they have to spend $10 for a box of masks when it values at $2. This is what we call the “kiasu” mentality. I still cannot believe that there are some Singaporeans who use this pandemic to make a profit while putting others at risk.

All in all, most Singaporeans still are kind enough to help each other in need and that’s what matters the most! With generous and kind hearted individuals, our community will surely thrive for the better.
