They come in various colors, ranging from dark to very colorful. Crusted geckos adapt to better blend in with their surroundings. The sticky pads on their feet can support the weight of two people! Crusted geckos can climb more easily than most lizards. This is because crusted gecko feet have features that most lizards do, along with special features only common to their species. Crusted geckos have sticky pads on their feet that contain hundreds of tiny hairs, called setae, that help them to stick to any surface. Setae is an adaptation common to all “sticky feet” lizards. Crusted gecko feet also have a lamellae layer, which is an adaptation specific to their species. Lamellae are plate like structures very close together with small spaces in between. As humans reach a certain age in their life, their health starts to decrease. With this, their falling risk increases. Crusted gecko feet could inspire a comfortable slipper with a very strong gripping bottom. The bottom would have a grip so strong, that the elderly’s feet would not be able to slip out from under them. This would decrease fall risks, and keep their feet warm at the same time :)
2. During football games, football players sometimes  drop the ball, or have difficulty catching the ball. Crusted gecko feet could inspire a new design for a football glove. The "sticky" gloves will decrease players chances of dropping the ball.
3. Wooden surfaces often get slippery when they become wet. For example, wooden porch steps are a surface that is prone to getting slippery when wet. Wheel chair ramps also pose a danger when they are wet. Strips with the design of sticky gecko feet can be made and placed on these surfaces to increase traction when they are wet.

The “hairs” will be made out of a very special microfiber that will stick to any kind of material. They will be short in length, but very strong in power. There will be pads around the top and a small place at the bottom of the foot of lamellae inspired waves. These waves will also be made out of a special microfiber material, and they will be placed in a way that creates a suction cup when someone is walking on it. This doubles the function of the waves. The special microfiber will not allow particles to stick to it, so it can be used on any surface or material. This new creation is sustainable because it will create a strong grip that will “stick” to any surface. This creation can be used in endless ways and help many people have better traction when trying to walk or climb. Though the design is for a slipper, the design can be transformed to fit work boots, hiking boots, or pads on canes. The possibilities and benefits of this design are truly endless!
