Purpose of adaptations:
A1 - to cope with physical conditions

Write up:
The lizard is able to run 20 times its body length in one second.

But when it rests, it must dance to keep from burning on the boiling hot sand.

The dancing reduces the amount of time it stays in contact with the hot sand, and surface area in contact with the hot sand, hence reducing heat gain from the hot sand, and preventing it from overheating.

Done by: Charles Tan (08)
