The Proudest Blue reminds me of when I saw some people wearing hijabs getting bullied and how they have a hard life at school and in adulthood. Asiya is bullied because she wears a hijab, this mainly happens because people don’t know about her culture.

This text reminds me of books and movies where the message is to believe in yourself and be who you are. They always have a hard life in the beginning and take in all the bad messages. Later in the text/movie they learn to drop those messages and be themselves. They don’t care about the bad messages about thier culture. E.g. Suri’s Wall because the little kids were scared from Suri and bullied her because she was different like Asiya is bullied for wearing a hijab.

This text reminds me of cyber bullying because it relates to bulliying. Usually cyber bullying is because of someone’s culture like Asiya is bullied of her culture wearing hijabs as soon as they get into high school.

The text  to self for me in that one of my family is black and my friend always gets bully and I don't like it when he gets bullyed and I compared them with the other person and they imagined it and they were very sorry when I told them.

Finally the text to world is that many black people are bullied by white people because the white people are being racist and the people around the world don’t respect the BLM is that black lives matter and this has been on the news before.

I made a text to text connection from ‘The Proudest Blue’ to ‘Common Wealth’ because the proudest blue was about people discriminating against Asiyah because of her religion/hijab. I think in a way they are similar because both texts are saying how there’s good and bad because, in the Proudest Blue the bullies were the bad but Faziyah was the good, and in Common Wealth the racist people are bad and the supporting people were good.

The text ‘The Proudest Blue’ reminded me of when my brother was a lot younger and he would follow and copy everything I do, which is a similar relationship to Asiyah and Faziyah’s relationship.

This book reminds me a book called star because in both books they were bullied because of there religion. Example in the proudest blue kids bullied the sister about her hidjab and said to take the table cloth off her head. In Star they bullied her because of her name star and she got very upset and wanted to change her name but then she learnt the religious story behind her name and now loves her name.

This reminds me of when my older cousin got something new and I  wanted it and loved it and was very exited when I got it. This also reminds me of when I would get a new toy and I would take it every where because it was very special to me.

This book reminds me of when people get bullied for wearing different clothes or things at school and all around the world

When Asiya has her first hijab it reminded me of when I wore my first kimono.

This book reminded me of a book called my kimono a book that was a bit different but very similar. The story was about a girl getting her first kimono from her grandma but her older sister and classmates laughed at her because she wore a kimono.

In the text, Asiya (faizah’s older sister) starts a new high school. Many movies and books  have introductions, middles or conclusions of someone moving to a new school. Some examples are: The Baby sitters club and Goosebumbs- the ghost next door. (There’s more but I won’t write them all.)

In ‘the proudest blue’, Faizah is standing in a line and everyone around her all look different because of there culture. All over the world there are different cultures and countries like Spain, Australia, India, America, Asia and more!

In the proudest blue I made a text to self with the quote “ don’t carry around the hurtful words that others say. Drop them. They are not yours to keep” as her sister gets called hurtful words and I feel connected with this as if I’m in a bad or sad mood. My mother is always by my side and tries her hardest to keep me happy.

It reminds me of the why we say  Black Lives Matter book as it has these mini quotes and images to represent how it feels to be like or in this person’s perspective. It also reminds me of why we say Black Lives Matter as it’s showing , if they look different that doesn't mean they can’t do everything. I connected after the quote “ asiya’s hijab isn’t a whisper. Asiya’s hijab is like the sky on a sunny day. The sky isn’t a whisper. It’s always there, special and normal.”.

This book reminds me of how people treat others because of their differences and the racism included in this world. I felt this after a boy said “ I’m going to pull that tablecloth off your head!” Which would be very disrespectful to their culture and religion. The world is full of these people so I thought that as soon as I heard that comment.

This book reminds me of when I was in prep and I would always look for my buddy at play time this reminds me of the book when it said “I need to give her another hug I need to make her smile”

when the book said  'i need to give her another hug, i need to smile’ it reminded me of when my older sister was in this school i used to sometimes follow her around the school and talk to her when i didn't feel the best and it always made me feel better.
