ive learned that new approaches such as the LEA, WLA also reading aloud for approaches to reading.

reading aloud is the common way teachers would use in school because it aids in providing a more fluent and expressing reading. it also helps students to indulge themselves in the storyline and understand about it.

LEA or Language Experience Approach is basically a method of teaching which connects to students' prior knowledge in order to make a connection with the language they are learning.

meanwhile, WLA is different from phonics in which language is being taught as a whole word instead of broken down into one by one. It focuses on meaning and strategy instruction.

2) From this lesson, I got some ideas on how to carry out fun and interesting activities in the classroom for each of these reading approaches. Moreover, I also learnt that teachers need to observe their students and choose an appropriate approach to teach reading skills.

3) The approach that impacted me the most as a learner was read aloud. My mom used to read me bedtime stories by using different tones and intonations for each character in the book. I used to imitate her, and she used to correct my pronunciation whenever I failed to pronounce a word correctly. My preschool teacher has also helped me develop my reading skills as she used to read out the words from the activity book and we used to repeat the words after her.

2. From this session, I got to learn how to create and apply new activities according to the approaches. At the same time, we made sure that the activity is fun to be done with the students.

3. In my opinion, the approach which impacts me the most would be the phonics approach. This approach helps the young readers to map sounds onto spellings, thus enabling them to decode words. This increases the reading frequency. I do still remember my preschool school teacher used to ask me to read daily in the morning for 30 minutes. She will go alphabet by alphabet. Once I was good enough to read the word fast, she asked me to read a book called “PETER AND JANE”.
