I find the best way to relate to students and their experiences is to share my own experiences. This allows students to see me as a person and not just as the person who is suppose to know everything. I tell them from the start about my life, family, hobbies, weaknesses and strengths. This allows students to see me as an individual and not their "teacher". Many of my students suffer with anxiety and depression, and when I tell them about a time that I had anxiety, they see me in a different light. I really enjoyed reading this part of the text. I think that it will be effective in a tradiTional setting as well as a online learning setting. Having the students share both with the teacher and their peers will allow them to make connections with students in class and build those relationships for a positive classroom environment.  I also believe in sharing about ourselves as teachers. I would love to try a heads up type of game for students. I think it’s a fun way to show them how vocabulary is important in order to truly understand something. I also love how engaging an escape room ends up being.
