90% of children got evacuated from their homes and had to go and live somewhere where they didn't know. They gave no warning and they had to go away to England. Some of them have never been on a boat before.

They gave no warning to the British before they got taken away.It was a sad time for the children and their parents as it was unlikely that they would come back to their parents. Once they left they had to find parents at the train station. People, especially children, were evacuated for their own saftey.

This was quit scary for the children but they had no choice. They left there parents and wouldn't see them for years so they couldn't recognize them. The children were not allowed to take anything with them apart from the essentials.
