A Memorable Quote... "... many teachers are still struggling to become effective in key skills, even in their tenth year and beyond in the classroom" (TNTP, 2015).

Retrieved from https://tntp.org/assets/documents/TNTP-Mirage_2015.pdf

This quote from TNTP's report really resonated with me because I just completed my 10th year of teaching. I started to think about what I struggled with in the beginning and decided that the two main things were classroom management and engaging students. It never dawned upon me until reading this quote that those two weaknesses took me almost seven years to improve. This year is the first time that I felt completely confident in those two areas.

Knowing this helps me to understand the importance of allowing teachers to be active participants when it comes to planning and designing professional development.
