Why does this happen?

The flame produces color when a chemical is entered because the outer electrons of the ion gets exited by the energy level and jumps to a higher energy level, when they run out of energy and fall back to where they were, they fall back to the ground state there they lose an amount of energy they had and produce light.

The purpose of this experiments is to determine specific colors produced by metallic ions in a flame. Also, we will classify the unknown ion by it's color in the flame.

Its color was a bright fiery red.

I think this project gave us a chance to work well with each other. For example, we worked together on sharing pictures and the padlet wall. We also worked together on the process of doing the flame experiment.

How did you determine your unknown chmical? (unknown-E)

Our unknown chemical was Lead (Pb2+). We knew it was that ion because of the color. The chemical Lead had a blue color similar to the flame. The Unknown chemical had the same color as Lead.
