In the past three weeks, various multicultural elements dominated our study life. Firstly, we visited the representative of the ethical area——Brick Lane. There are diverse elements that inexplicably interact with each other, which could largely account for this historical district we saw that week. This region was a group of Jewish who were forced to leave their hometown and made their living by themselves. After these immigrants settled down, Bengalis came to this area starting to set up businesses with their knowledge and craftsmanship. They finally became a crucial group in both economic and political arena after a long-time development.

Afterward, Huguenots also came here to escape from the prosecution. These are a large group of people who were good at silk weaving. Finally, this ethnical area became a representative of multiculturalism, with the Christian church, French-style architecture, and Bengalis food. Then in the ensuing week, we did a poster as a group about multiculturalism. We introduced a wide range of food and their background with their differences between they were in UK and other places in the world. For example, many Chinese restaurants have a certain degree of adjustment in taste in the UK. Chinese people who come to the UK will not be used to eating Chinese restaurants for there would be some localized ingredients in it. We also introduced the two-way impact between multiculturalism and food diversity which interested people a lot. This two-way impact included a variety of foods influenced by multiculturalism, as well as a variety of foods that gave this region a different character. Also, I learned a lot of new knowledge about ethnical groups such as their history, architecture and job prospect.
