Comparing Figures 6 & 9, As to the impacts of earthquakes, earthquakes causes disruption in transport services, infrastructure and even telecommunication. Evidence can be shown from the destroyed roads, buildings and also undergeound structures. We also concluded that Japan is well equipped to handle earthquake destruction, as shown from figure 6, where the destruction of infrastructure was repaired within a couple of days.

Japan has a magnitude of 9.0. Haiti has a magnitude of 7.0. They have similar magnitude but there is a huge difference in the estimated number of deaths. Japan has an estimated number of 28000 deaths while Haiti has an estimated number of 300 000 deaths. This is due to different population density. Population in Haiti is greater than population in Japan therefore earthquake in Haiti affected more people. Haiti is more developed than Japan therefore there are more infrastructure destoryed. This leads to higher cost of repair of USbillion in Japan compared to the damage of US$15 to 30 billion in Chile.

The EQ in Japan had a 9.0 Magnitude on the Richter Scale While the EQ in Haiti Had only 7.0 Magnitude on the Rich Scale. The EQ that happened in Japan Took 28000 Lives but the EQ in Haiti took 300,000 Lives ;(, more than 10 times as compared to the EQ in Japan. The estimated Damage caused by the EQ in Japan was US$300 Billion Dollars with a Crippled Nuclear Power plant and 155,000 homes lost, however the EQ in Haiti left 1.3Million People Homeless. The reasons for these varied damages are because The Epicentre of where the EQ in Haiti Was, Had Many Homes In the Area Ad Was Densely Populated, While the epicentre of where the EQ hit in Japan Was More Of A Industrial And Infrasturctural Area, thus more Econmic damage was caused rather than homes destroyed.🌎🌍🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏🌍🌎

Japan has a higher magnitude than haiti but had a lower impact. Japan has lower death count than Haiti. Haiti is located inland near the epicenter and japan is by the coast further from the epicenter. Therefore Haiti will experience greater seismic waves than Japan causing more damage. Haiti is also less prepared compared to Japan as haiti is less developed. Hence overall, Haiti EQ had a higher impact.

Furthermore, Haiti suffered from aftershocks that are more than 4.0 Magnitude, bringing more damage to the infrastructure in Haiti. Japan is also more prepared in dealing with earthquakes due to frequent occurrence. As they are more prepared, Japan is able to minimise the damage and impact done to the country. This is shown where Japan were able
