It was the series of anti-semitic exterminations conducted by the Nazis. Through the Kristalnacht, Jewish people were the primary target, leading to the deaths of over 30,000 Jews were killed. As documented by Yitzhak S. Herz, one area that the Kristalnacht affected was the Dinslaken Orphanage in which soldiers stormed in and wreaked havoc. They destroyed the houses and tortured the children out in the cold weather. As proven by our primary source, the people who were affected were not taken into consideration, as all children, women, and men were targeted. This particular event opened the eyes of many Europeans, especially Jews, as they realized that political antisemitism led to violence that could not be avoided. Later I noticed that some Jewish houses, close to the synagogue, had also been set alight under the expert guidance of the fire brigade.
