< The president may veto a law passes by congress. this pretty much mean that congress alone can not pass new laws

< Congress can override that veto with a vote of two thirds of both houses. this means that even if the president veto's the law that 2/3rds of the house can still over turn that veto

< The supreme court may check congress by declaring a law unconstitutional.

< Members of the supreme court are appointed by the president. Those appointments have to be approved by congress.

The most important amendments to me are the second and fifth amendment. Being able to bear arms for me means that i can protect my family in the house. The fifth amendment is something that i heart a lot "I plead the fifth" most people use it in the wrong way that i know but it protects self incrimination among other things.

this branch of the government is to make laws. their are 100 senators in the senate, two from each state. There are 435 representatives in the house. The number of representatives each state gets is based on its population.

Executive Branch

the president acts as head of state in commander in chief. the cabinet and independent federal agencies are responsible for everyday enforcement and administration of federal laws.

Judicial Branch

they are in charge of deciding the meaning of laws, how to apply them, and whether a law breaks the rules of the constitution. the u.s. supreme court is the highest court in the us.
