Summary: Italy had low resources, and Mussolini’s goal to grow the population made emigration from Italy harder. No dual citizenship was allowed, so Italians had to abandon their original citizenship to be Canadians. To help the communism rising in Italy, Canada accepted immigrants, which was a win-win due to Canada’s need for foreign workers.
Push factors: communism, low resources, economic ruin
Pull factors: employment, Canada’s NATO obligations
Number of immigrants: 450,000

Since after the second world war Hungarians began to flee to Canada due to their dislike of living under communist rules. These rules were the push factor and Canada's democracy was the pull factor. Between 1956 to 1970, 30 000 Hungarian immigrants came to Canada.
