Pada kesempatan kali ini saya akan menjelaskan tentang Passive Voice.

Passive Voice atau Kalimat Pasif adalah kalimat yang subjeknya dikenai oleh tindakan atau perbuatan.

Kata kerja dalam Passive Voice dibentuk dengan cara menggabungkan "to be + verb (Past Participle)

Pola Kalimat Passive Voice:
Subject + Verb (to be + Past) Participle + by ...

Berikut adalah ketentuannya.
1. Subject pada kalimat aktif berubah menjadi object dalam kalimat pasif.
2. Object pada kalimat aktif berubah menjadi subject dalam kalimat pasif.
3. Predikat dalam kalimat pasif adalah "to be + verb Past Participle)"

Hal-hal yang harus diperhatikan dalam membentuk Passive Voice
1. Kalimat yang dapat dijadikan kalimat pasif adalah kalimat Active Transitive, yaitu kalimat yang kata kerjanya memerlukan objek.

2. Kata kerja dalam kalimat Passive Voice adalah kata kerja Past Participle

3. Apabila subjek dalam kalimat aktif orangnya tidak tentu, maka objek dalam kalimat pasif boleh ditulis dan boleh juga dihilangkan, seperti by the people, by someone, dll.
Contoh :
Active  :The people visit the museum.
Passive :The museum is visited (by the people)

4.Apabila terdapat dua buah objek dalam kalimat aktif, maka akan terdapat dua bentuk kalimat pasif.
Contoh :
Active  : My father gave me the money
Passive 1: The money was given to me by my father
Passive 2: I was given the money by my father

Ketentuan "to be" yang digunakan dalam kalimat Pasif tergantung pada bentuk tense dalam kalimat aktif.

Perhatikan bentuk "TO BE" berdasarkan tensesnya di bawah ini.

1. Simple Present Tense : am/is/are + Past Participle
2. Simple Past Tense               : was/were + Past Participle
3. Future Tense :  shall/will + be + Past Participle
4. Present Continuous Tense   : am/is/are + being + Past Participle
5. Past Continuous Tense   : was/were + being + Past Participle
6. Present Perfect Tense : have/has + been + Past Participle
7. Past Perfect Tense  : had + been + Past Participle
8. Future Perfect Tense          : shall/will + have + been + Past Participle

Contoh

1. Simple Present Tense
a. Active   : Alan writes a letter.
b. Passive  : A letter is written by Alan.

2. Simple Past Tense
a. Active   : Alan wrote a letter yesterday
b. Passi.ve  : A letter was written by Alan yesterday.

3. Simple Future Tense
a. Active   : Alan will write a letter tomorrow.
  b. Passive  : A letter will be written by Alan tomorrow.
                   
4. Present Continuous Tense
a. Active   : Alan is writing a letter.           
b. Passive  : A letter is being written by Alan.

5. Past Continuous Tense
a. Active   : Alan was writing a letter.           
b. Passive  : A letter was being written by Alan.
                   
6. Present Perfect Tense
a. Active   : Alan has written a letter.
b. Passive  : A letter has been written by Alan.

7. Past Perfect Tense
a. Active   : Alan had written a letter.
b. Passive  : A letter had been written by Alan.

8. Future Perfect Tense
a. Active   : Alan will have written a letter.
b. Passive  : A letter will have been written by Alan.
