Both are described as developed and powerful. Rich countries are mostly from north-divide and poor countries are mostly from south-divide. There is really a divide between nations due to some factors. The other nations are wealthy, powerful and have the resources, while the other nations are underdeveloped and poor. Globalization can be both good or bad, and that the characteristics gives nations some benefits and negativity.

As we go through this activity it shows how the world is divided despite of differences , some have the benefits such as advancement in technology, infrastructure, food production and exporting products from one country to another. The South's lack of development and the high level of development of the North deepen the inequality between them and leave the South a source of raw materials for the developed countries. The most of the countries belonging in the global North are on the brink of economic development and industrialization while the South are mostly previously colonized countries which are in need of help in the form of international aids, but are never able to receive some.

As we worked on this activity, I have seen that the world is really divided. Some countries are privileged, advanced, and have the materials/resources to be economically successful, powerful and influential, while other nations are behind, rely on agriculture, or stuck in traditional ways. Globalization can be a gift or a threat to anyone. It can make other nations be recognized or influence their other neighbors. Capitalism benefits the wealthy rather than the poorest of the poor, like how periphery countries are being exploited by the core countries, even if periphery countries have mostly natural resources, but gain little to nothing from core nations.

The one most important thing that we have learned in this activity is how the world works/Globalization in general. Some nations are advanced, economically successful, as mentioned before, have the resources and the power to influence the underdeveloped countries. Globalization can be both a benefit and threat to other countries, and the sad reality is that, instead of privileged countries helping underprivileged countries, the former takes almost everything from the latter.

I have learned in this topic that globalization is indeed important in each and every nation. Without globalization many countries will suffer because they also dependent on their neighboring countries and they need to export and import their goods which will help their economy grow. Each countries have gone through difficulty before they reach what they are now especially to the core countries and countries which is considered a Global North. Countries that belonged to Global South are extremely experiencing poverty and hungers. Many of these countries still remain as economically poor because of corruption. Corruption are widespread in this such countries esp. Philippines and African Nations. And because of corruption it drained out large amount of money from national income that cut off public services for its citizens.

I have learned that Globalization has both great advantage and disadvantage to the world. Developed countries are mostly benefits to the globalization which makes them economically powerful than the other nations. Developing countries are mostly failed to grow their economies, services, goods and left behind to the globalization which makes them hardly to compete or catch up with developed countries. There are countries that remained on their spot as powerful nation and some did not. It is not always that a country will remain on top or below. The more that a country is capable of opening its economy internationally, the more it has a great opportunity to have interdependence with other nations.

As we work together and as I research about these countries involve in our topics. I realized that each and every country has different paths. Our world is indeed divided that some countries are rich, developed and has great government. They are advance when it comes to technology has good set of laws that protected their citizens and has a great visions and plans for their nation. While some countries are really poor, underdeveloped, their government are really corrupt. Poverty and hunger are rampant and most especially they are not as enhance then other rich countries.

While working on our group activity titled “A World Divided,” my group members and I observed there’s inequality between the global North and global South. These inequalities include the availability of natural resources, different levels of health and education, the countries’ state of economy and access to international markets. Inequality is also present in core, semi-periphery and periphery countries. Core countries seem to develop their economy at an irreversibly increasing rate, while the periphery countries are consists of regions that have low or stunted growth and development. Semi periphery countries are countries that are progressing from periphery to core countries, but not all countries are lucky enough to attract investors, in order to support the country’s economic growth. There are countries that are slowly regressing from core to periphery due to stagnation.

What I learned from this activity is that globalization affects the power balance between developing and developed countries and affects the culture of each affected country. Through the spread of new technology, globalization has improved the quality of everyday work, management in firms and working conditions for everyone. It also has something to do with the connectivity of different countries and their dependence on one another for political stability, economic growth and cultural awareness.
