The Walking Man, by Alberto Giacometti

It is not necessary to introduce Alberto Giacometti, a 20th century artist known for his sculptures of elongated characters. Born in 1901 in Borgonovo, in the canton of Graubünden, Giacometti tries to try out different forms of representations before approaching the Surrealists around his thirtieth birthday. At the beginning, he rubbed shoulders with artists such as Miro, Aragón, Bretón or Dalí, however he was rejected by the surrealists in 1935. In 1945, Giacometti developed the style that would make him known to the general public: human sculptures with a threadlike appearance. He sculpted an early version of the walking man in 1947, but the 1960 version is currently the best known. In May 2015, it became the most expensive sculpture in history, at an auction at Christie's, organized in New York. Value: more than $ 141 million!

The Alien, by Hans Ruedi Giger

HR Giger was a multifaceted artist. Artist, sculptor, designer, illustrator and graphic designer: these are the areas in which the master of the fantastic excels. If his most famous creation is, of course, Alien, that won him an Oscar in 1980 (a year after the release of the homonymous film). The artist developed a universe where the organic and the mechanical mix. His flagship book, the Necronomicon (1977), is considered a masterpiece on this subject. This book convinced British filmmaker Ridley Scott, director of numerous blockbusters, to cast him in for the first episode of the alien film series. In 1998 a museum that compiles the works of HR Giger was inaugurated in the medieval city of Gruyère (Canton of Friborg). There you can see an impressive name of his creations and finish the visit with a drink in the HR Giger Bar.

European art is a very interesting art, the eyes are always there, which is why art is much more developed than in other Latin American countries, there is a lot of investment in museums, universities, workshops, private classes where there is much more demand, so which are more artists. The sculptures, muralists and painters are important as much as a soccer player, musician or politician since he is responsible for giving art to a country and the world, since if there were no art the world would be different
