Cave art or Prehistoric art is believed to be from 32,000 years ago. Cave art has been found in nearly every continent. During this time, there were no crayons and markers, instead they would grind up stones and other natural materials to create their colors. Because only natural materials were being used, they only had certain colors, including black, brown, red, white, and orange. The paintings were a way to communicate and tell stories. Hand prints were used as their signature.

Today you will begin to distress a piece of cardboard to act as your wall canvas. You will be using chalk which will create a dusty illusion.

Step 1. Take one piece of chalk at a time and turn it to its side. Drag it across the cardboard. Filling most of it up. Do this with each color until you have used up all colors.

Step 2: Blend the colors with your hand. Do not bang. Banging is not blending. Blending makes no noise.
