France was poor and not producing enough grain, so people began to starve. Meanwhile, the nobles were living lavish lifestyles. The significance of this is that the people began to resent the nobles. This is a condition because it directly affects the way most people were living.

Representatives of the three estates met at the palace to discuss the financial state of France. The commoner's demands were not met so they banded together and declared themselves the National Assembly of France and announced they wanted to make a french constitution. This is significant because it really started the spread of the common people wanting to revolt. This would still be considered a belief because there is not a big movement but a spread of ideas.

The National Assembly of France went to Bastille to arm themselves after the king brought in foreign troops to keep the commoners in check. There was lots of bloodshed and eventually the king called for a seizefire. This is very significant because this is the major turn of events that most people think of when you mention the French Revolution. This is a trigger because everyone was finally fed up enough to make a big change and take action.

Rumours began that Marie Antoinette was hoarding grain. Peasant women who were armed demanded that the king and Marie moved back to Paris. The king and Marie agreed and were closely watched by the people. This was significant because now the king and his wife cannot hide and the people were basically holding them under house arrest. This would be considered a trigger because it was another big moment of action.

The National Assembly would meet periodically during this time and make new laws. Some of the laws were dividing France into 83 districts, selling church land, and finally in 1791 they wrote a Constitution. This is significant because it changes France's entire government system and financial state that started the entire revolution. This is a condition because everyone in France now lives under the new laws.
