Interactive platforms like Desmos (teacher.desmos.com) are more interactive and incorporate critical thinking into their activities. Also, don't forget about the Open Educational Resources provided in Module 1!

When you find a formative assessment you would like to try in class, share the link with other students on the discussion forum, and explain what makes this tech platform the most appropriate for your learning objective or unit of study (how does the platform itself support the level of Bloom's / Depth of Knowledge you want to observe).

Also, note that some of these platforms also have grading functions as well!

If your school district does not have a contract with a data assessment company that allows you to create assessments, print scantrons (etc) and run data reports, many teachers opt to use ZipGrade (limited free version or $7 yearly). ZipGrade allows you to customize scantrons. Grade using your webcam, phone, or tablet!

For a demonstration, watch this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKkXnhflzkw

Grading written assessments is more difficult. For essays, there are a few technologies that look for duplicates and plagiarism. While this is not a grading tool, per se, students are more tempted to cheat in the upper grades due to stress (for college, etc).:

plagiarismchecker.com
turnitin.com
Duplichecker

These services are different in significant ways. Some of these websites compare pieces of student work to one another, others compare student work to passages on the internet. Some look at paragraphs, some look at individual sentences. Some are free, some are not.

Turnitin is the most advanced out of these tools, however it must be purchased by a school site (not available nor cheap for individual teachers). Additionally, Turnitin, being the most advanced tool, has assessed false positives of plagiarism, so teacher verification is highly recommended. That said, it is a useful tool department-wide to ensure students in separate classes/period are not cheating.
