What's my favorite genre and why

Although I enjoy listening to a wide variety of different genres, my favorite genre is R&B. Because I grew up listening to rich soulful R&B music, I feel as though I connect most with this genre alone. Often times throughout other genres of music the lyrics and meaning seem to be very surface, whereas when listening to R&B, majority of the artist pour their emotions onto rich melodic track. The connection between my fondness of R&B and my personality is rather similar. R&B music is outgoing and extraverted, as am I. Nonetheless, every R&B song I have ever listened to has made me feel as though I am the person that is being sang to or about. Music is a powerful weapon, but when an artist can transfer certain emotions about someone into a song and make everyone that listens feel as though it's about them, I believe that’s magic.

Of the songs that have been released, on average there 97 million songs and counting in the world. My music is indescribable. My music has no limits or restrictions. My music reaches past your ears and mind. My music resonates with your soul. Music is a powerful element on earth, and is the most advanced auditory stimulus there is. From music therapy, to concerts, music has the capabilities of healing, influencing, entertaining. My music is beyond the surface and is meaningful. As a musician, singer and songwriter, connecting and understanding music comes with great ease to me. Growing up I struggled with selfexpression and confidence but through my composing and performing of songs, I have overcome that obstacle. Without music I would not be the same.

How do I define music? How do I interact with music?

According to the dictionary, music is defined as a vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such away as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. Although this Is proven to be true, it is a surface definition. Music is much more than an arrangement of tones or sounds in succession, to a lot in unity and continuity. Music is my personal medicine. Throughout my personal life problems, music has always provided me with a window of freedom. It helped me get through my parents divorce as a young child, overcome low self-esteem, and comfort me when I am feeling low. Still to this day it is my form of medicine and will be for the remainder of my life. I interact with music in other ways most people around me cannot. From composing, to performing, to laying down original tracks and lyrics down with my vocals in the studio, my interaction with music is limitless.
