The assessor praised our school, stating that our "inclusive approach has helped create a positive sporting culture that encourages participation and enjoyment for all" through diverse activities, competitions, and staff training.

This is a huge team effort. We would like to give a special mention to Mrs Crook, our fantastic staff, and our brilliant pupils for their dedication to achieving this milestone. Well done, everyone!

We have been enjoying a short water play session every day, to keep us cool and allow us to have some outdoor play 💦 We had great fun, especially on Friday, when Miss Wright was splashing everyone with the hosepipe! 💦

While we have been staying indoors this week, we have been using the extra time to help us to develop our fine motor skills. We have been enjoying junk modelling sessions, creating lots of wonderful models ✂️ We have also been taking part in lots of play dough and dough disco activities.

On Thursday, we were joined in Willow Class by our friends in Cherry Class. We had a great time together taking part in some "How to Draw" activities ✏️ We held a vote, and voted for the characters that we wanted to draw from You Story ☁️ 💛 ☁️ 💙 ☁️

We had a lovely end to our week, and the children really enjoyed their treat with the visit form the Ice Cream Van 🍦

This week, we completed our music unit with Mrs Richards and then began our new computing unit, Digital Music. This exciting topic allows us to build upon our musical skills by using technology to create and explore music in different ways. The children had a great time experimenting with Chrome Music Lab. Why not ask your child about it and have a go together at home?

This week, we are also saying goodbye to Mrs Richards as she completes her teaching placement. We are very sad to see her go, as she has been a wonderful addition to Cherry Class. We would like to thank her for all of her hard work and wish her every success in the future.

The highlight of the week has to be our class cinema trip to see Toy Story 5! The children have been buzzing with excitement all week. The special day began with every child choosing a free sweet treat from the tuck shop before we set off. For many of the children, the coach journey itself proved to be an unexpected highlight! We all loved watching Toy Story 5 together, and it will certainly be one of the most memorable moments of the year.

A huge thank you once again to the PTA for funding the coach travel and the tuck shop treats. We would also like to thank all of the staff and parent helpers who made the trip possible, keeping everyone safe and ensuring a fun-filled and memorable afternoon for all.

We enjoyed lots of water play, including being sprayed with a hose, ice play and lots of calm, quiet and still activities where possible.

Some of our children even went to spend extra time in mainstream classrooms, playing in the air-conditioned environments to keep cool.

Although we calmed everything down, we still did our reading and phonics and practised our Maths skills, identifying shapes and odd and even numbers!

Hopefully the weather will be a little cooler next week so we can get back to our usual timetable and outdoor activities.

In maths, we have been working on division with remainders. We have been using our times tables knowledge to work out the equal groups and counting on to see how many we have remaining.

In English, we have been continuing our work on the book Blue John. We have been discussing whether Blue John should go outside and using conjunctions to justify our ideas. We decided that although we understand why he wants to go outside, he would be safer in the cave.

As the weather was too hot outside, our cricket lesson was in the hall. We practiced our throwing skills with lots of different activities.

In the afternoons, we have been doing computing. We have been editing photos by rotating, cropping, changing the colours and combing different photos.

In maths, we finished our place value and moved onto multiplying by 2 digit numbers-practice makes perfect! We need to know our times tables to ensure that this is as smooth as can be.

Finally, our geography has been learning about the different types of energy we can create-solar, fossil fuels, wind etc: this has got us all buzzing!

Only 3 weeks to go Year 6.....

This week in Sycamore Class, we adapted to the warm weather and enjoyed a range of activities designed to help us keep cool.

The children loved taking part in water play, as well as exploring with sand and getting creative with chalks outdoors.

We also welcomed a special visitor, who taught us all about the Halton recycling scheme. It was a really interesting session, and we all learnt lots about the importance of recycling and looking after our environment.

Tuesday, we got the tablets out to help keep the children calm and cool.  We challenged the children to make us some pictures of bugs on minecraft. We also did some bug word searches and played some really fun games of hangman using the large white board.

Wednesday, we embraced the heat and set up a beach area using blankets and the mats. We made postcards and paper squishies.

Thursday was another hot one so we made our own handheld fans and ate slushy ice pops.

For Friday's movie night we watched Vivo with a colder snack of sandwiches, wraps or crackers.
