         <description><![CDATA[<p>After student 2 shares, I will then ask another student what differences they saw in student 1 way and student 2's way of solving, if any. If not, what could they have done differently, but received the same answer? This is important because students must be able to recognize there are multiple steps in solving equations and some must take place a specific times (i.e. simplifying) and some it does not matter (i.e. combining like terms across sides).</p>]]></description>

At this time, I will call on students who I saw solving a different way to explain what they did. I will encourage students to solve the equation a <strong><em>different </em></strong>way on their exit ticket that they did for the example problem. Students will explain on the exit ticket each step they took and why they took those steps. This will help students gain an understanding of why steps are used during each step of solving equations. </p>]]></description>
