I am based in Brisbane at the Kelvin Grove campus. I have been involved clinically and at university in nursing education related roles for well over three decades. My beginning education passion stemmed in the areas of Emergency, Coronary Care and Resuscitation. I was subsequently given the opportunity to teach staff clinically and work with university students. I thoroughly enjoyed these roles which led to my academic positions. I am the Academic Lead of Education in the School of Nursing and we are one of the largest nursing schools in Australia. I enjoy leading our large undergraduate and postgraduate teams, working closely with the Course Coordinators as we set curriculum design; strategic education directions and ensure internal and external accreditation requirements are met. My research interests are around Workforce Preparation including peer mentoring; simulation; active learning approaches; Students as Partners and Leveraging university and academic partnerships to enhance quality education delivery.

My apologies for the late post. I am Tomy Thomas and I live in Gold Coast. I took up Nursing 5 years ago and now works at the Gold Coast University Hospital in the Neuro stroke ward. I used to be a teacher earlier on in my career and I believe that you learn more when you teach, hence I would like to be a nurse educator.

Been working a while now... I actually remember Karen lecturing in my undergraduate degree many moons ago. Most of my career has been as a midwife and neonatal nurse and I also worked as an educator in that realm for many years. A few years ago, I went back to study and completed my Child Health studies and I'm currently working as CPF within Child Health. I enjoy sharing knowledge and skills and facilitating and supporting nurses learning experiences and journey.
