Malala was born in 1997 July the 12th in Pakistan. Girls weren’t given rights then, but her dad was determined to give her all the rights and opportunities the boys were given. Her dad ran an all-girls school until a terrorist group called the Taliban started taking control in 2008 and banned many things including schooling for girls. They were extremists and if you did anything they didn’t like, they would shoot you. In 2012 Malala decided to stand up for her rights as a female and every other girl impacted by not having an education. This made her a target for the Taliban. This resulted in her getting shot in the left side of her head on a school bus on her way home in 2012. She woke up in a hospital in Birmingham England after being in a coma for 10 days. She moved in with her family starting a new life in England but still making a change for the girls back in Pakistan and all over the world.

How Malala is a radical change agent

Malala Yousafzai is seen as a truly radical change agent. She wanted to give girls the right to an education after it was taken from her when the Taliban took control. The Taliban started attacking girls schools and that’s when Malala decided to take back the power taken from her and all the other girls. She gave a speech in Peshawar calling it ‘how dare the Taliban take away my basic rights to an education’. She also started blogging for the BBC showing the threats of the Taliban. After the attack against her she won a Nobel prize and the European human rights award. She is recognised worldwide she has written a book named 'I am Malala' and has done many speeches to empower young women and their rights. Malala has opened minds all around the world to an insight we never would have had as to what it’s like to be a young girl in Pakistan and the little rights they are given. She put her life on the line and continues to do so for what she thinks is right. The Taliban are a strong extremist group who she fought against, she was making an impact which made them feel the need to retaliate and silence her which resulted in her hospitalisation and millions of people getting behind Malala and what she believes in.

Contrast of worldviews

The worldview Malala had to go against were different type of radical people trying to change the world to what they believed as right. The Taliban chose to interpret their religion for something else and misuse it with corrupt power. Malala is a Muslim and practices Islam. She has very strong opinions and beliefs from it. She was born into and believes it is all about peace, harmony and equality. The Taliban believed that girls even at the age of 13 were not to get jobs or an education but to get pregnant and take care of a family. Malala knows that the power of education is what scares the Taliban and what women can do with that power. Her worldview is that everyone deserves a right to be equal in this world and gain an education. She gained this worldview from her father and his strong beliefs and efforts to be able to educate her. He taught her that no matter the religion, gender or culture no has the right to take away anyone else’s right to an education and now that is an extremely strong belief for her. She is passing this down and influencing people all around the world to believe in too. Now she is focusing on only working for the good. She recently was able to travel to Pakistan under high security and visited an all-boys school. In her speech to them she said, "My dream has come true. Peace has returned because of the invaluable sacrifices rendered by my brothers and sisters". She will continue to fight for what is right.

What I have found inspiring

I have found everything Malala has done in her life inspiring. To be able to come back and fight the people who shot her down is a strength within its self but, then to be able to stand up for everyone else in the position she was in internationally. She has changed my worldview by understanding that even the smallest voice can make a massive impact. She has also made me not take my education for granted and the rights I have as a young woman that I know not everyone is able to get. She has made me see that even if you cannot fight for yourself that someone out there is trying to fight for you and your basic rights as a human being. She has inspired me to speak out for what I believe is wrong and not stand for anything that I know is immorally incorrect. One big thing she has taught me is to be strong and not let anyone shoot me down.
