For the theme 'a celebration', it is not necessary to have a 'problem' occur. Instead, we can focus on building up to the celebration, the most exciting part of the story.

Think: He will celebrate his birthday with his grandparents.

Wonder: What kind of celebration will he have?

Plot: Billy will have a surprise birthday celebration spent with his grandparents. His grandparents could be surprise guests as they stay far away and he rarely sees them.

Wonder - who is it for? what celebration is this? who is it from? why does it say ‘congrats’?

Plot - Jean received a cup with the words ‘congrats’ from her aunt for getting into her dream school.

Think: I think that the cup is for the sister whose baby brother was just born. It is to congratulate the sister on having a younger sibling.I think the baby brother will have a good life.

Wonder: I wonder is there a party? What gender is the baby?

Plot: A mother just gave birth to a baby at the hospital. The parents are having a surprise party for the sister who is at home with the grandparents.

Think: I think somebody won or achieved something and has been given a mug that says ‘congrats’.

Wonder: I wonder what the person did to achieve/win this mugs.

I wonder who it is given by?

THINK: l think the cup is a present for a celebration as a gift.

PLOT: it is Cheyanne Phua’s birthday

2) Grandparents brought Max to the park to distract him he thought that they had forgotten about his birthday but turned out that when he got home, there was a birthday celebration.

3) he felt upset at first when he thought that his grandparents had forgotten about his birthday but in the end , he felt happy and thankful.

1) Micheal got four points for PSLE.

2) Grandparents are flying in from China to celebrate and Micheal has no idea that his parents invited his grandparents to celebrate with them.

3) Micheal can get into a goods secondary school so his family wants to celebrate.

4) Micheal and his parents went to the movies in the afternoon after lunch and went home for a dinner celebration where his grandparents were in the house waiting to surprise Micheal.

5) Before the dinner celebration , Micheal felt happy that his family was celebrating his PSLE results, but a bit disappointed that his grandparents were not there.

During the dinner celebration, when his grandparents surprised him in the house, he felt elated and joyous.

After the dinner celebration, he felt thankful towards his parents for inviting his grandparents, and thankful that his grandparents had flown from China to celebrate his PSLE results with him.

I celebrated it with my family and friends.

I celebrated it because I managed to get into my dream university and was over the moon.

I gave a speech as the valedictorian, standing in front of the whole school. During the

afterparty, I ate lots of food and talked with my friends.

Before the celebration: nervous(to do the speech)excited(for the afterparty)

During the celebration: I felt as happy as a lark.

After the celebration: I had mixed feelings , it was a bittersweet occasion; I would miss my friends and the school.
