Montag’s society is also very similar to today’s society. In today’s society people discriminate people because of their ethnicity and sexuality. They are treated with disrespect and rudeness just because of the way they want to display themselves, or the way they are embracing themselves. In one of the quotes it asks if they have respect just because she looks different, in Montag’s society everyone needs to be similar to each other to have respect. Captain Beatty also insulted Montag by calling him nasty, just because Montag is making a change for himself, but the society will not accept change in the world. Montag claimed that being one of the people that were not into change was an idiot. Even though there are people in today’s society that accept those who are different, there are still more people that need to learn that accepting people for the way they are is important.
