         <description><![CDATA[<p>I used this activity with the word "underline" as it is commonly used in their instructions. </p><p>I chose this word to support students when they have to underline numbers and words. I modeled how to underline and also showed they what words to underline. </p><p>Overall, I feel the impact of pre-teaching was helpful as the students were able to independently identify when and how to underline. </p><p>In the future, I think I will continue to use actions and visuals to model while pre-teaching.</p><p><br/></p><p>Joy Eki-Edo </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I used this activity in our lesson on Sticker Cost vs. Net Cost of Paying for College.</p><p><br/></p><p>I chose these words to teach the concept of "Gross and Net", then apply to "Sticker vs. Net".</p><p><br/></p><p>Overall I feel the impact of Pre-Teaching was effective.  They applied it to the lesson, and now can remember which is the big number and which is the small in any context (Income, Production, etc.).</p><p><br/></p><p>In the future I will attempt to teach them some Precabulary every lesson that applies to the lesson, and broader context.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I used this activity in our lesson over Claudette Colvin and the virtues of silent leadership. It allowed for the students to better internalize militant over genteel leadership. </p><p>Overall the impact of preteaching was clear, and other student (non EL) even commented when the target vocabulary appeared. </p><p>In the future, I will catalog these on a living wordwall in my classroom.  </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I used this activity in our lesson over early humans in the paleolithic and neolithic eras.  I chose this word to support students when they have to describe reasons why people changed or evolved based on resources or limitations of their environment.  Overall, I feel the impact of Pre-teaching was successful.  Afterwards, students were able to describe "qualities" successfully when asked.  In the future I think I will try this with more verbs that ask students what to do such as "analyze, infer, interpret."</p>]]></description>
