All of his personal elements that he looks for in music is amazing. I love the way he words all of his chapter titles and the way he connected all of his elements to his playlist songs. This book changed the way that I listened to music. I listen more intently and listen for every element that he talks about. I have a new perception on what "good" music is. I used to think good music was anything that had a good beat but now I listen for more of a story and more musical elements presented in Ratliff's book. I enjoyed the assigned readings every week and looked forward to what musical element I got to read every week. I did not like the way he would switch topics with the line in the pages. But overall, the book was great. I learned to appreciate Furthest Thing by Drake and Im Through With Love by Etta Jones because of Ratliff's book and playlist.
