When the plot develops into a classic spy story, and the emotional temperature of the film becomes tenser, cold tones and darkness take over. Lighting Role

The producers had split most roles so that only one was needed per day. I was assigned the second day of community centre and the lake scene, for these I had researched 3 main directors Ken Loach, Wes Anderson, David Fincher each one individually for each scene. I coordinated with the rest of the DOP and directors and agreed that for the community centre we wanted to take a more darker moody approach and the lake scene more Wes Anderson so that they can contrast with the main characters development.

Reflectors

This project was one of the first times i worked with reflectors, although i have previously used them to help diffuse lights it was my first time. I ended up really enjoying it the most out of all the lighting i have used, because although its so simple it has such a big visual impact on the scene by just slightly lighting the subject. For the lake i used the gold side to make it look like the sunshine.

Majority of the role i was given was pre production however i made sure to help out almost like a runner, in the community centre I would constantly make sure the aperture lights kept being on charge and then when one died i would replace it. As well as making sure for continuity that each light was in the same area to make sure it looked similar in each shot

Problems

1- Although we had bough a falcon light as vedad suggested we ended up not being able to use it since the sun was so bright the light had 0 effect so we mainly had to use reflectors

2- Since the reflector need a source of light and we was filming under a bunch of trees there were times in which the reflector did mothing because of the shade.

3- In the community Centre there was a window in shot which was extremely overexposed therefore we found a solution to duct tape a bit of fabric on the outside of the window so we didn't have the sun directly on the window.
