Rochester, NY is very different to Salva's home. In Rochester, there is good technology. There are cars for getting around, there is a lot of water that you can access in a blink of an eye, there are houses and apartments, and there are paved roads everywhere. In Salva's home, there is very limited water, the villages have houses that are not very good quality, all of the roads were dirt and you got around by foot.

Rochester is much more developed than Salva's old home. There are paved roads instead of dirt roads, and cars are found everywhere, driving all the time. Rochester's climate is also much much colder than where Salva used to live. Coming during winter, Salva also was able to experience snow, which he has never seen before. Every building had electricity in the city, which was something not everyone had access to where he used to live.

 I think that Salva should listen to his father. He would be safe from the war. I think if he ignored the request from his father, he would get to see his family, but he might get hurt.

I definitely think that water has this capability, especially in less developed areas like Africa where water is a huge part in everything they do. Being such a precious resource, it could call for conflict between two peoples (ex. the Dinka and the Nuer), and humanitarian efforts (ex. Salva's effort to bring clean water to places in Sudan).
