In a few songs from this album she is very upfront about the message she is trying to spread. The song “The Man” is clearly more of a political song on this album. Her Lyrics call out the the discryencsy between men and women. The lyrics that stand out to this is “Im so sick of runningas fast as i can, wondering if id get there quicker, if i was a man.” Shes saying that if she was a man she could run faster and the double standard of working harder as a women.

I found out that taylor is trying to spread awareness about people believing you and standing up for your self. In 2013, taylor was sexually assulted by her own Dj. He was later fired and pressed with charges. She says that she never intended for her report to become public. She was a teen just singing about love and that drastically turned into something not worth letting go of.

Taylor is trying to point out how men are looked at as the stronger and more self-centered part of this world. It's saying that if she was a man she wouldn't have to try as hard and she would be a faster runner. Saying she'd be the man person they would look up to.  She points out all the traits a man has that she doesn't have as a woman. She says the things she could if she was "The Man". I feel like she is praising men an how they seem so much better than us women.
