My advice to everybody is, take your time, acknowledge the due date, set a time for when you need to study and get everything done, even if it’s a few weeks before, that’s fine. One story that’s always stayed with me was told by my grandmother, who lovingly took on the role of a mother to me and my siblings. Every year on the first day of school, she would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. My answer never changed—I always said I wanted to be a foster care provider like her, to give children the love, care, and security they needed. I also admired my great aunt, who ran her own daycare center. These strong women in my life showed me the power of nurturing and educating children.

Because of these early influences, I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue a career where I could support, teach, and inspire young children—whether as a daycare provider, a headteacher, or someday by opening a center of my own. I’m committed to making a meaningful impact in their lives every single day.

I have had a very rough time in life for a very long time. I am 47, homeless, have sight impairment and a traumatic brain injury and am a survivor of domestic violence.

I decided one day that I would not allow someone to devalue who I am or what I can accomplish. When we are abused and outcast from society it can be hard to remember that we are worth our dreams. It can be almost impossible to remember that you are not less than just because someone didn't see your value. After thinking for a moment, I made a decision. It occurred to me that if I allowed these people to ruin my life, they would win. They do not deserve to dampen my spirit or put out the fires of my passions.

I started small with a certificate. Now I am getting ready to start on a bachelor's.

It has not been easy to learn or do homework. I wonder every day where I will be that night. Sometimes accessing power proves to be impossible. Some how I have managed to complete my assignments and maintain As and Bs.

It is better to have a late start in life than to never pursue your dreams.

I’m not from this country, I am proud to say I am Brazilian/Italian born in Peru, however, I landed in Baltimore back in 1998 and now I am an ATL Peach who has traded crab cakes for peach cobbler. 🦀🍑 I’ve always believed that many Up North schools bring a certain energy and quality to education that fits my vibe. Post offered the exact degree I wanted faster, because patience is not my strongest virtue, and every single person I talked to on the staff was genuinely kind and helpful. The Financial Aid and Education Advising teams deserve their own reality TV show. 🎬 Because they’ve been lifesavers, cheerleaders, and occasional therapists when I needed help figuring out how to afford school and plan my academic journey. I like how I can reach out with any question, big or small, and get real answers without feeling like I’m bothering anyone.

The drive in me is like a shooting star, focused and ready to take on any obstacle. I’m locked onto success, and there’s no turning back. They didn’t just treat me like another enrollment number; they treated me like a person with a story, with goals, and with value. As an online student, flexibility was crucial, but it was the community and encouragement I received that sealed the deal.

What I love most about Post is the support system. The professors are engaged, the advisors genuinely care, and there’s a strong sense of belonging even from behind a screen. Being named to the President’s List twice and the Dean’s List once in my first year reminded me that hard work pays off, no matter your age. Being a part of the Honors group has only pushed me further to keep striving.

What keeps me going is simple: I want to leave a legacy not just for my kids, but for anyone who has ever doubted themselves because they thought it was “too late.” I want people to know that with heart, discipline, and faith, you can rewrite your story. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and even more excited for where I’m headed..

I chose Post because of the warm interaction I experienced with the admissions team from my very first phone call. Their friendliness and support made me feel welcomed and valued, which set a positive tone for my entire educational journey. This personal touch also reassured me that I would receive the guidance I needed throughout my studies.

What I love about Post is the wide range of outlets available for students, such as various student organizations, online resources, and support services. These options not only enrich my learning experience but also foster a strong sense of community, even in an online environment. The opportunities to connect with both faculty and fellow students through discussion forums and virtual events make my education feel engaging and collaborative.

What drives me to keep going is the knowledge that I am investing in my future. The support I receive from my family and close friends encourages me to overcome challenges and stay focused on my goals. The skills I am gaining through my coursework are invaluable, and I look forward to applying them in my career. Each step forward reinforces my commitment to my studies and to the Post community, and I am excited about what lies ahead.

What motivates me to continue my degree is my desire to grow professionally and personally. I am committed to gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to support others on their recovery journeys. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I plan to pursue a master's to deepen my expertise and increase my ability to make a positive impact. Ultimately, I am motivated by my passion for helping people and a strong belief in the importance of mental health and addiction recovery.

I initially chose Post University because of the flexibility it offers. Learning on my schedule made it possible to pursue my education without sacrificing time with my daughter. But as I’ve continued my journey, I’ve discovered that Post offers more than convenience. From the incredibly friendly and supportive faculty and engaging coursework to the sense of community and encouragement I’ve received, it’s become more than just a school—it’s a place where I feel empowered to grow and succeed. And it is very clear that this is what Post University also wants to see. What started as a practical decision has turned into a profoundly fulfilling experience. 

The flexibility of online learning allows me to pursue this dream while managing other responsibilities in my life. Every course, every discussion, and every assignment brings me closer to becoming the compassionate, knowledgeable, and empowered psychologist I strive to be. My motivation is rooted in purpose, service, and the belief that healing begins with understanding.

Online classes give me the power to keep moving forward without missing the moments that matter most..Honors Day, Friday night football games, school related activities and etc. I’m proving to myself (and Chelsie) that growth doesn’t always happen in a classroom… sometimes, it happens on the couch at 1 a.m. with a laptop and a dream.
