Well, obviously first you have you have to apply. Usually you decide where to apply based on your current grades in high school, what you want to major in, financial situation, and whether or not you want to live with your parents or go away and live on campus or near campus. After you apply they send you a confirmation of acceptance or a suggestion to apply elsewhere.

Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions you will make in life. It's about so much more than deciding what you will do to make a living. We can't give you all the answers, but we can tell you three basic principles of good decision making:

1. Know yourself–your strengths, values, personality, and skills.The better you know yourself, the better your decision is going to be.

2. Know your options and learn about each one.You have to keep an open mind in this kind of situations, you can't stick around an option if you're not entirely sure.

3. Make a good decision. It may sound redundant, but it's actually pretty accurate. This little choices can — and will — define your future life. You have to be true to yourself, and be as imaginative as realistic.

Choosing an university is almost as hard as choosing a career. Once you have figured out what you're going to study, you have to ask yourself the following questions:

Where? Do you wanna study near home, or do you want to just go away and be on your own?

When? It’s not an obligation to start college the year following your graduation. If you wanna take a time, do it! Sometimes it’s better later than sooner.

How much? This is hard, but it’s true: not everyone is capable of paying for a private university. But that doesn’t matter, some of the best universities in the country are public schools.

Sometimes, it’s required to take an exam to get in. If it’s your case, you may wanna go to a pre-university.

If you get in, congratulations! Now it’s time for changes: college is different from high school in a mount of ways, this is a short explanation of how does college works.

No more studying the day before the exam, you have to take it seriously. You have to study and pay attention of every detail the professor says during the class, they’re not that permissive and compressive as high school teachers, and exams are extensive and difficult.
The classes are new and different from high school classes, depending on what are you studying. The teacher won’t give homework every day, you have to take notes, because the material you’re going to have to study is amazingly long and complex.
The atmosphere is different from high school, because you’re going to share class with adults, and they are going to be there to learn, not to talk with you. This doesn’t mean you’re not gonna make friends, but if I were you, I’d forget throw paper balls with messages and doing nothing while the professor is explaining.

5. Something personal: what we want to study?

Abril: — I want to study periodism, because I would really like to be in the media and be a journalist.

Sabrina: — I want to be a kindergarten teacher, and for that I have to study faculty in initial level teacher. I feel comfortable surrounded by kids.

Ezequiel: — I don’t decide for a career yet. I have two options: literature and letters, or political sciences. I lean towards the first, but who knows, I have time to choose one.
