He developed a theory that argued that human behavior is mostly a result of three different parts of the mind these being: The Id, Ego and Superego

Id: Most Basic Component deals with peoples wants and needs and instant gratification i.e thoughts such as "I want it/to do it now"

Superego: This component of the mind deals with morals and rules set in stone by society that one is used to, also known as a moral compass it develops through childhood as you find out whats right or wrong. "It's not okay to do that"

Ego: In contrast to the Id, the ego is much more rational, it is both unconscious and conscious and acts as the middle ground between Id and Superego. "Compromise?"

Sigmund Freud’s discoveries and ideas have drastically influenced modern society, mostly in terms of how we deal and think about mental illness. Instead of thinking about it like a physical disease like most did before he focused on the psychological factors that made mental illness, i.e instead of thinking insane people had diseased brains and sane people have good brains, he thought of the psychological influences that can come from developing mental illness/ becoming insane.
