In the beginning of the school year, I had my desks in rows, which tended to put students in a bad mood. I looked into other classrooms and saw their arrangements. Inspired, I put the desks in groups. The students were then given assigned seats, and they tended to keep each other accountable in their own groups.

I organize the lesson by first providing a warm-up at the beginning of class.

I really lean in as much as possible to each student to assess whether they are understanding the skills that are needed to play keyboard. In chorus, this is a bit more challenging. I have not yet figured out how to keep individual students in chorus fully engaged, especially when it seems like students are in chorus more for the social component rather that the educational component

Each day is a routine. The students know when to being out their Chromebooks (for warm-ups and notes), and when it is time to be independent. Establishing the routine and norms early is beneficial.

I am an ELD teacher and mostly "push in." I don't manage the classroom.

Teacher Vs. Class, where the goal is for the teacher to "lose". Class gets points for good behavior/participation, teacher gets point for distractions or misbehavior. Don't lose points, only gain. Have incentive like free time after lesson.

I (ELD Teacher) co-teach in the RELA classroom. We try to make sure we are aligned in our expectations (turning in work, early finishers, steps to correct behaviors, rewards, etc.)

In small groups, I have talking chips, review expectations each time, and have all materials ready before they come. I also have lots of candy and bubbles. I try to build intrinsic motivation (still working on this)

I sit students next to students whom they will not chat with too much. It is a struggle at first; students really do not like being told where to sit; however, over time they settle down.
