I have been a reader since I was very young. One of my earliest memories is actually reading with my dad. When I was too young to read he would read to me and I would just sit there and listen. We would sit on the couch and I would read my book aloud to him and he patiently sat there and listened (which in hindsight was very kind of him because I got distracted very easily). I really loved anything by Dr. Seuss or anything having to do with Disney princesses when I was just starting out.

As I got older I was always very into reading. Pretty early on in elementary school I started to be ahead of a lot of my classmates with my reading level. I started reading short chapter books (like Junie B. Jones) in about 3rd grade. This trend continued of my excelling with reading without really having to try that hard.

In middle school I was put into all advanced classes. These classes meant I was reading things more my level for class and I had to start trying a little bit more. Looking back I think this really started me on the path of honors/AP classes throughout the entirety of my education. I continued to enjoy reading a lot during this period and started doing even more reading outside of simply what was assigned.

As my education continued, I also continued to try and expand my reading and writing ability. I continued to do honors classes and really enjoyed them. I started pretty much only reading for class during this period and never really had a passion or love for writing, but could do it well enough to meet the requirements for classes. I liked that both my reading, writing, and communication abilities continued to be challenged as I took more intense writing classes and had to take courses such as speech.

I have gotten my love and joy of reading back in the recent years and it is one of my favorite pastimes. I still don't particularly love writing, but am working on it. I have also grown in my ability to communicate with others and being able to figure out what other people are really trying to communicate. My favorite genres since I started reading have always been fiction, but over the past couple of years I have also learned that I enjoy reading some "classics" and thinking about how they relate to our current society.
