Advantages - more likely to be completed and used.

Disadvantages - will need to manage expectations of families and community stakeholders who expect to see or advocate for certain inclusions.

I think it should be mandatory and then schools can also undertake other processes if needed. This could be the base document that ensures no school does less than this.

risks to consider - going to some of the feedback that condensing three questions into one box could make it less clear/usable so will need some 'user testing' by school staff as part of the design. And relies more on schools using the associated guidance so need to make sure that's updated and accessible as well

Ive heard about schools using apps for IEPs - and understand this is to make it easier to "roll them over" between terms and years. If template is mandatory we should consider how to support this need

Yes it should be IEP mandatory process and strongly encouraged to use template (I don't think we can mandate template)

The audit we undertook when I was in SWVR a few years ago showed that 20% of the IEPs reviewed met the level of high quality based on the quality assessment rubric. I think a template should be mandatory for consistency and quality.

Advantage - From a DI profile perspective, one streamlined document would act as a single source of information, improving the process for schools and the facilitator service. Maintaining the individualised adjustments section is hugely beneficial for all, particularly when it can include how adjustments are implemented.

Risk (more than a disadvantage)- IEPs should be individualised to the student. A streamlined IEP must still be able to be differentiated.

Any streamlining, must correspond with really clear guidance, PL, examples and expectations around the quality of these documents.
