It was a wonderful experience guiding and witnessing students in their PYP X journey. The support and resources created, shared and collated by the 5th grade teachers were an extensive resource for both mentors and our students. I thoroughly enjoyed learning and working with the students in creating their websites and liaising with other mentors and teachers. I wish everyone a lot of success for the exhibition.

My experience was great in guiding, supervising and coaching the students. It’s wonderful to see how students are prepared with their topic. The students engaged themselves in-depth collaborative inquiry. They demonstrated independence and responsibility for their own learning. Together we explored multiple perspectives and students reflected upon their journey. I am sure they all will perform well. Congratulations and all the best for making the last PYP years brighter and bigger.

PYP exhibition is a wonderful example of student agency. Students of grade 5 displayed immense capacity, willingness and ability in their journey of their final year in PYP. Students approach towards their journey was a sheer reflection of them embodying the learner profile attributes. The journey was also a showcase of their ATL skills during the design thinking inquiry stages. Their actions spoke about how effectively and deeply they worked upon their central idea, making them visible on personal, local and global level. As a mentor it was an amazing journey, seeing them showing digital citizenship, academic integrity, collaboration and ownership. I am happy and thankful for being a part of this great journey. Applause to all the Grade 5 students for coming up with such a fantastic exposition !!
Shruti Sharma

The exhibition is a culminating learning experience that allows students to demonstrate a consolidation of their learning. The exhibition provides PYP students with the opportunity to synthesize their learning and reflect on their journey through the PYP. Mentoring is a fantastic way to be an active part of the PYP exhibition. I had a wonderful experience with my mentors and got a new opportunity to explore and helping, guiding and encouraging students to accomplish their goals. Being a mentor, my role was to help them find and connect with resources, conduct research and organize their ideas, and find the best ways to present their findings to our school community. I wish everyone a lot of success for the Exhibition.

It was an endearing experience to mentor the grade 5 children and see them grow step wise towards their final goal.
Working with them and how they took each and every aspect of their journey of taking action towards their chosen SDG was an enthralling job. Children showed maturity and patience in different stages viz finding out, sorting out and then presenting their final work. It amazed me to see how they have taken this opportunity to express themselves, do research and use this opportunity to make a local, personal and global impact in their own way. Working virtually with their mentors and HRTs has not made their performance hamper at all, in fact that it gave them then a chance to work collaboratively with a whole team working with them and supporting them and motivate them. I would like to extend my gratitude tovthe parents who came out as a real support in this teaching, learning and finding out journey. Good luck and well done to all grade 5 children and teachers for a commendable job!
Preeti Gandotra

The most exciting part of Grade 5 is the PYP exhibition Journey. This is where our students worked collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real-life problems and issues that they are passionate about through Sustainable Development Goals. It is about our students and their ideas, we asked them questions, guided them, and then they were given the opportunity to explore. It is a fun journey where everyone is learning and growing. We saw the students demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment in making connections for rich and meaningful learning. They worked along with their peers and mentors to develop skills which will be valuable to them for the rest of their lives. Being a mentor for me is the fun part of the exhibition, working alongside the students in their learning journey. This is where I can truly say the impact the exhibition has on them each individually through their actions. They begin as individuals researching a topic that quickly became a desire to make world a better place. As the very proud teacher of these grade 5 students, We are celebrating their accomplishments throughout their primary years and wish them to continue to grow in their middle years as lifelong learners.

Best Wishes,
Ms. Priyanka

It was an amazing experience working as a mentor with Grade 5 students. They worked hard and left no stone unturned to reach their goal. It amazed me a lot when I saw these rising stars were brainstorming, doing research, and working hard tirelessly and finally came up with responsible- personal, local, and global actions. Meaningful action often begins with a feeling of responsibility to the community in which we live and progresses to making and facilitating small changes. I am happy to see, this learning experience was an opportunity for students to enhance their skills, become an independent learner and the person who thinks and making a positive difference to the lives of others and the environment. I would like to pay my sincere gratitude to the parents for their continuous support, and who stood with their children at every step to complete their work. I believe these small actions taken by students, will create positive change in society. I wish them good luck for a bright and prosperous future.

Warm Wishes,
Anju Kharbanda

But is who they have become as a result of this process that makes my heart swell.

To me, this has been the essence of being a mentor. I believe my mentees knew it all and all I had to do was to encourage them to bring it out.

Mentoring is a fantastic way to be an active part of the PYP exhibition. One of the greatest parts of the exhibition it is students – not teachers – who lead the planning, development and presentation of their work. As a first step, students worked together to pick the global issues; my group chose to inquire about the SDG of Life on land.. Being a mentor, my role was to help them find and connect with resources, conduct research and organize their ideas, and find the best ways to present their findings to our school community.
Taking action is the most prominent part of the entire exhibition process. Learners became more responsible citizens by taking smart, measurable, actionable relevant and time bound action. Students participated in collaborative discussions and competently came up with positive actions and responsibilities to make this world a better place to live in.
Overall mentoring was a rewarding experience. The students were able to explicitly articulate their understanding on the exhibition day and transcend their thoughts to the community in an effective and engrossing way.

All the best to the entire Grade5 batch of 2020-2021.
Thanks to the team of teachers of grade 5 for giving me this opportunity.

Regards
Ms Shalini

It has been a challenging year already by trying to squeeze in all the essentials of school onto a virtual platform. Then comes along an exhibition project, and not just something to make a poster of, its a project with a purpose! When most of the world is distancing themselves, the resilient LIS grade 5 students have been cranking the wheels of research, communication and self- management in order to spread awareness and call to action! The global sustainable and developmental goals have been in general knowledge, but I never thought that I would be so closely involved with mentoring passionate students on acting upon them.
It has been an exciting virtual experience and I look forward to the reactions of others who will be privileged to view this years exhibition.
To the resilient seniors of PYP - You have worked hard towards an event of a lifetime! Every presentation on your topic will confirm your ownership and push towards a better world.
To the teachers of the class- It never was meant to be an easy ride, but for what it is worth, you will debut global citizens on a unique platform. Your organization, coordination, cooperation, persistence and most of all perseverance has paid off!
And to the Viewers of the Event - This is not a see and forget event, this event is going to make you stop, think and act upon in your own life choices. Get ready to empathize as these students unravel perspectives.

Thank you for the privilege and the opportunity to mentor.
