I really loved this book because it really set a clear picture in my mind almost like I was watching a movie as I was reading. This reason made me not want to let go of the book because it was full of Action, Difficulties, & caos. For an example of difficulties was that the main character Maks was poor and also was his family but what makes this really bad is that this was at the time of the Great Depression so just about the whole population was poor.

I adore this book because it brings memorys from 5th grade. I remember sitting on the gray square carpet waiting for my 5th grade teacher Mr.Rogers to open the book and start reading. I also really liked this book because it gave me a look of what a Sudanese refugee goes through. Such as having a new home in a new climate, new people, & a new culture. Lastly I really loved how Kek the main character compared things such as "A cow is God with a wet nose".

This book has to be one of the books I could never forget. I couldn't ever forget about this book because it touched me emotionally because of the events in the book such as Jack's (main character)dog named Sky dog got hit by a car and Jack saw his dog die. Why this brings emotions to me is because I had a dog named Bee who we called Boston got hit by a car and died right in front in my eyes. But, I also really liked this book because of the way it was written short and you got to love a book that is short and a joy to read.

I really enjoyed reading this book because it was full of problems such as the main character Mattie's grandfather getting stabbed in front of her own eyes and her mother getting sick from the fever that is going around which killed most people who got it. I really enjoyed the way the way the author wrote this book because it was past tense.

I also loved this book because it was full of suspense and I love a book with suspense. I also liked this book because it sticks in my mind that a blind young girl was kidnapped and also was sick. I also liked this book because it was very descriptive and so clear that It was like I was watching a movie as I was reading it. This book impacted me a lot because it taught me that there is good in everyone who seems evil. I think this because Griffin the kidnapper risked his life to let her go free.

This book was really fun to read because there was a lot of drama in it. For an example the main character Isabelle lost her Dad and other things. I also really loved this book because it really proved to me that no ones perfect.
Isabelle who wanted to be like Ashley Barnum who was "Perfect" to Isabelle. In order for Isabelle to become perfect she decided to get skinny by throwing up her food after she consumed it. But actually Ashley wasn't perfect at all because she also had a food disorter and had parents who were getting a divorce soon.
